Created by husband-and-wife duo Simone and Lidia Crepaldi, HOAX is a modern Italian restaurant and hidden cocktail bar in Dalston - a stylish two-in-one experience just steps from Brilliant Corners. HOAX is located on Kingsland Road, in one of East London’s most energetic neighbourhoods. The restaurant sits close to Dalston Junction and Dalston Kingsland stations, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors exploring the area’s bars, music venues and galleries.
Upstairs, the casual dining space offers 30 covers (plus a terrace for warmer months) in a chic setting defined by HOAX’s signature black-and-white striped wallpaper and a semi-open kitchen. The menu, curated by Sardinian-born chef Riccardo Lottero (ex-Michelin-starred Massimo Camia in Piedmont), celebrates traditional Italian family recipes with seasonal twists. Expect fresh pasta dishes, comforting mains, and a show-stopping tiramisu served tableside. Highlights include steak tartare with Robiola cheese and hazelnut, roasted tuna with rocket pesto, slow-cooked beef cheek in red wine broth, and house cacio e pepe.
Slip behind a velvet curtain to discover The Devil You Know (TDYK) - HOAX’s sultry basement cocktail bar. With teal tones, checkerboard floors, and a glowing neon centerpiece, this intimate 24-cover space is all about late-night allure. Drinks are masterminded by Simone, whose pedigree includes running the cocktail programme at Callooh Callay – consistently ranked among the World’s 50 Best Bars. Expect inventive twists on classics, from a white chocolate and strawberry Negroni to a decadent Tiramisu Espresso Martini, alongside an all-Italian wine list.
HOAX is more than a restaurant; it’s a destination for those who love great food, exceptional cocktails, and a touch of intrigue. Mezze upstairs, mixology downstairs – Dalston’s dining scene just got a serious upgrade.
