Boisdale of Mayfair 1

12 North Row , London, W1K 7DF

SquareMeal Review of Boisdale of Mayfair

Famed for its jazz, malt whiskies and fun-loving Scottish vibe, Ranald MacDonald's Boisdale has a loyal following. This fourth restaurant (following Boisdale of BelgraviaBoisdale of Bishopsgate and Boisdale of Canary Wharf) follows the tried-and-tested formula, with a restaurant, shellfish bar, cigar terrace and cocktail bar. The ground-floor restaurant is clad in a trademark mix of mahogany panelling, classic and modern artworks and a red and dark green colour palette, as well as boasting with two mezzanine levels. ‘Mayfair’s most exclusive whisky list’ is promised at The Stable Bar and in the basement, The Old Fashioned Bar specialises in classic cocktails from the 1920s and 1930s. Food-wise, hearty Scottish fare includes Macsween haggis, burgers, Scottish seafood and ‘the largest selection of British cheeses in London’ – we’ll happily conduct thorough research to verify this claim. With massive breakfasts, Sunday roasts, nightly live jazz and blues and bottomless Prosecco brunches, Boisdale is gunning for every market here.

Grana Padano

Grana Padano has become the world’s best-selling PDO cheese and one of the most loved products in Italy. It has been made with the same passion for almost 1,000 years in the heart of the Po River Valley in Northern Italy using only local milk, and aged from nine to over 20 months. What’s more, 30g of Grana Padano PDO contains the same nutritional value as approximately one pint of milk and it is lactose free due to its long ageing and production process. Real Grana Padano cheese can be recognised by the small diamond lozenges on its rind. So always check there is some rind on the piece you are buying.
