The Walrus is a pub, restaurant and cocktail bar based in The Lanes, just a short walk from the beach and Brighton Pier. The brilliant location and range of private spaces for hire make it one of Brighton's most reliable venues for celebrations and events. The Walrus has large and small spaces for hire, spread over four floors and suitable for a huge range of private and corporate events.
The largest of those spaces is The Tusk Club - The Walrus’ basement speak-easy. It hosts everything from comedy nights and cabaret to live music and karaoke, but it’s also available for private hire. The flexible space can be opened up as a dancefloor or set up for private dinners, and the moody atmosphere and AV tech makes it perfect for theatre, DJ events, birthday celebrations and more.
Head above ground to the first floor and you’ll find The Walrus’ Dining Room - a charming, old-school dining room with plush leather banquettes, mismatched furniture and old portraits on the walls. The room hosts up to 60 for a seated dinner, or 100 across the whole floor. Naturally, it’s best suited to private dinners and lunches, but it’s also adept at hosting more flexible gatherings.
The Hideaway is also worth checking out. This cosy nook is overflowing with vintage charm, and seats 40 guests for more intimate celebrations, as well as events where you want a bit of privacy.
The Walrus handles catering in-house via a set menu for larger groups. The menu is packed with classic pub cooking, with dishes including smoked mackerel salad, lemon roast chicken with parmentier potatoes, and chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.
