The Walrus is one of Brighton’s most recognisable, best-loved pubs, found just a stone’s throw from the beach and Brighton Pier. The pub is particularly well-known for its huge, two-tier roof garden, but it also boasts a dining room and cocktail lounge, spread across its many floors.
The Walrus covers four floors in total. At the top of the building, the roof garden sits covered by a huge glass skylight, bathing the space in natural light. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a few cold drinks with friends, and there’s plenty of table space spread across both floors of the garden.
On the ground floor you’ll find the traditional pub where you can stop in for a drink and a snack, but if you’re here for something a bit more substantial, head upstairs to the dining room. The Walrus serves classic pub grub, with an all day menu that includes smoked haddock fishcakes, flat iron steak frites with garlic butter, a crispy buffalo chicken burger, and sticky toffee pudding, as well as nibbles and sharing platters for grazing. The pub also serves a popular Sunday lunch as well as a set menu.
Next door you’ll find the Carpenters Lounge cocktail bar - a reference to Lewis Carrol’s 1871 poem The Walrus and the carpenter. Signature cocktails are the order of the day here, ranging from the Margamelon (tequila, midori, cointreau, lime) to the Zombie Walrus (white and spiced rums, Passoa, pineapple, apple, sugar, lime).
As if that isn’t enough to be occupying yourself with, The Walrus is also home to its own dedicated entertainment space - The Tusk Club - which hosts regular live comedy, cabaret, pub quizzes, live music, karaoke and more.
