Heading to Brighton’s famous Lanes this Christmas? On the historic Ship Street, just moments from Brighton beach, The Walrus is a traditional, lively pub. The building is sprawling with cosy nooks, vast dining rooms, and a hidden rooftop garden - perfect for settling in for a festive evening with friends and family.
Spanning four floors, The Walrus has plenty of room to drink mulled wine, and tuck into a turkey dinner. Gathering the whole family together? The first floor dining room has a rather spectacular feature table for 12, while The Hideaway hosts up to 50 people, for both full sit-down meals, and casual Christmas drinks. There’s also The Tusk Club, complete with velvet booths, warm chandeliers, and speakeasy-style low ceilings. It’s a versatile space, with a 120” projector and four screens, suited to office Christmas parties and private festive functions.
When it comes to food, The Walrus offers either a classic three-course dinner, or a Christmas festive buffet. The set menu includes warming winter classics, like roasted butternut squash soup, as well as unconventional starters, like baked feta with honey and thyme. For mains, there’s a traditional roast turkey breast, braised featherblade of beef, and more. Puds are as Christmassy as it comes - think Christmas pudding with Brandy custard, and a cheeseboard with chutney.
If you want to take the ‘sharing is caring’ approach, or find something to suit a more casual occasion, go for the buffet menu. Bite-sized nibbles span pigs in blankets, turkey and stuffing sliders, and prawn tartlets. There’s even some sweet snacks, like warm mince pies and brownie bites.
Whether you’re looking for somewhere to throw an office-wide Christmas party, or the perfect place to make memories with loved ones, The Walrus is a real winner this winter.
