About The London Library

Description

This iconic literary institution is one of the world's largest book lenders with over a million books in its collection. Boasting a historic member list that spans Dickens to Darwin, and with a current member list of nearly 7,000, this unique venue has hosted some of the most prominent writers, authors and academics of its time. Fancy hosting a private dining event that's rich in history? The London Library offers a range of traditional and contemporary spaces available to hire for your next corporate event, from business meetings to formal dinners and drinks receptions.

The Study is well suited to intimate dinners thanks to a grand wooden table in the centre of the faux regency-style room. With an original Robert Adams fireplace, large light-letting windows and rich mahogany cabinets, this atmospheric room is a unique space to host a meal with colleagues and clients. It can also be used as a field kitchen for larger events held elsewhere in the Library.

Indeed, if a larger gathering is what you have in mind, The Reading Room is the Library’s largest space and can be adapted with various seating arrangements. With a capacity for up to 200 people standing or 100 seated, this room is ideal for large sit-down dinners or receptions, while providing a dramatic backdrop that’s sure to wow guests thanks to its double-height, booked-lines walls. Don’t miss the impressive art and architecture at The Issue Room either, which offers a modern yet awe-inspiring space where a large chunk of the library’s book collection can be found, and is often used for private drinks' receptions.

When it comes to the food, The London Library works with a range of caterers who are experienced at hosting events in heritage venues. Simply enquire with the team for a contact list of recommended suppliers, all of which have worked at the Library before.
