First opened in 1873, it’s known as a fine example of Victorian architecture and inside boasts unique features such as an original booking office turned bar and the Midland Grand Dining Room and its private dining area, perfect for special occasions. With tall ceilings, ornate plasterwork and glamorous Art Deco furnishings, it’s a stunning place to enjoy a birthday, important client meeting or indulgent get together with loved ones. The multi-layered space is made up of a magnificent main restaurant, exclusive private dining room, chef's table experience, terrace and Gothic Bar, each one offering something special of its own.

The walls are hued in rich red and a mixture of gold-toned lighting illuminates the atmospheric space, creating a sumptuous glow. It really does feel like a place to celebrate.

The kitchen is led by Head Chef Patrick Powell who is originally from Co. Mayo in Ireland and first learnt the ropes under Derry Clarke in the Michellin starred kitchen at L’Ecrivian in Dublin. Since then, he’s spent time at Wild Honey and Chiltern Firehouse, before launching his own restaurant with hotelier Hart Handelsman, with The Midland Grand Dining Room being the pair's second venture.

Powell’s style is rooted in French cuisine. For group dining you're able to choose between canapes, set and tasting menus. Set-ups include an intimate chef's table experience for eight people, semi-private hire of the restaurant for 30 people, exclusive hire of the restaurant for 86 and exclusive use of the Gothic Bar for 100 standing.
