If you’re after elegance, history and stateliness as your back-drop for Christmas, The Wallace Collection
will tick all your boxes. The venue stands tall as both a national museum and one of London’s most prestigious townhouse venues. With its world-class collection of old masters, the Great Gallery makes an indelible impression for dinners and receptions, while the leafy, glazed Courtyard is a lovely setting for drinks or seated dinners. For more intimate gatherings, there is a suite of elegant drawing rooms and a selection of smaller dining spaces.
Reception venue hire starts from £7,000 while dinner and dance venue hire starts from £11,000, both based on a three-hour slot starting at 6.30pm – don’t worry, there’s always the option of extending it in to the wee hours of the night.
Both option exclude catering, which starts at £45pp for a reception or £130pp for dinner (based on 100 guests). If you want to pimp up the venue a bit with some festive flower decorations, this can be arranged from £1,500 for your reception or from £2,500 for the dinner.
Looking to treat the guests to some entertainment? From £495, you can. Art lovers will feel at home at this venue, with masterpieces such as Frans Hals’ The Laughing Cavalier and works by Titian, Rubens and Velázquez on display. Why not take your guests for a private tour of some of the main attractions?
The museum’s latest exhibition, Sir Richard Wallace: The Collector, could also be incorporated into your evening. The exhibition celebrates 200 years since the birth of the museum’s founder, Sir Richard Wallace, and has been running at the venue’s new £12m exhibition space, which opened in June this year. Private tours starts at £2,000.
