Auditoria & venues with tiered seating

If you're searching for the ideal London venue for your next product launch, screening, conference or seminar, the capital is filled with an unrivalled selection of auditoria and venues with tiered seating. Ensuring the perfect set up for large scale o

Updated on 05 June 2018

When you’re organising seated events for large groups it sometimes helps to book an auditorium or a venue with tiered seating. Product launches, for example, always benefit from guests being able to properly see and hear the focal point. In London and the UK there are a whole host of auditoria or venues with tiered seating and Squaremeal.co.uk has a list of the best available. London’s top theatres are a natural choice, offering the benefit of raked seating with bags of architectural character. Then there are the major cinema chains, which have venues dotted across town, with a concentration in the buzzing West End. The advantage with cinemas or venues with screening room is, of course, the use of cutting-edge screens, many with 3D. You’ll also find some of the best conference centres and museums also offering tiered seating, great for an AGM. There’s even the odd stadium for really big meetings.

BFI IMAX

BFI IMAX

1 Charlie Chaplin Walk , Waterloo, London, SE1 8XR

The centrepiece of the state-of-the-art BFI IMAX cinema is, of course, the plush Auditorium, which has the largest cinema screen in Britain – 20m by 26m. The combination of high-rise stadium-style seating and a digital surround-sound system really makes an impact and brings multimedia presentations to life. Meanwhile, the foyers are both spacious and versatile enough in their own right to hold drinks receptions, product launches and banquets.

QEII Centre

Broad Sanctuary, Westminster, London, SW1P 3EE

This purpose-built Westminster venue is no stranger to high-profile clients. Its 32 event spaces hold up to 2,500 delegates, and conferences and exhibitions work well here. A major refurb, including a renovated façade, new breakout spaces and improved lighting, was recently completed. We’re big fans of the Churchill, whose slightly raked seating means everyone gets a good view. The larger rooms work well for banquets and drinks receptions.

The Old Vic

The Old Vic

The Cut, London, SE1 8NB

One of London’s best-loved theatres, The Old Vic has sat proudly on The Cut’s westerly corner for almost 200 years. Its classic Victorian auditorium is just as handsome as the fine exterior suggests, with seating arranged in a horseshoe shape in front of the stage and triple-tier boxes either side. Spacious front-of-house areas are linked by a central staircase and the back-of-house spaces are just as captivating, such as the 200-capacity rehearsal room. Venue hire is available for daytime events – conferences, filming and lectures, 'an audience with...'-style events and Sunday concerts, for example. It is also possible to arrange backstage tours.

David Game College

31 Jewry Street , London, EC3N 2ET

There are remnants of London’s Roman wall in the basement at this private sixth-form college, but a recent refurb means you’ll find some rather more modern events facilities up above. Product launches, seminars and keynotes all play well in the two-tiered lecture theatres, which are equipped with HD projectors and up-to-the-minute AV. A trio of training rooms host smaller meetings, while the Dance Room is the place for drinks receptions.

The Churchill War Rooms

The Churchill War Rooms

Clive Steps King Charles Street , London, SW1A 2AQ

The Churchill War Rooms, located in the Treasury building’s basement in Whitehall, is arguably the most historically important site in wartime politics and a suitably weighty venue for high-powered meetings. It is from here that Churchill directed much of WWII and many of the artefacts on display are exactly as they were left when the war ended in 1945 – down to the remains of a charred cigar. Meeting facilities comprise the HCA Auditorium, enhanced by discreet but modern AV facilities, the atmospheric Harmsworth Room and intimate Switch Room, which combine to hold drinks receptions for 400 guests.
