Knocking back bottles of Beck’s; jiggling around self-consciously to DJs playing whatever passes as postmodern; dressing in whatever Ponystep magazine or this year’s equivalent style arbiters are pushing; hoping to pull a posh girl from Greece who studies sculpture at St Martin’s College – these are virtually rites of passage for the generations of arty souls who wash up at the ICA’s late-night bar. A glass of De Nauroy Brut (£8) has Champagne Guardianista appeal, or you can shell out £14 for a bottle of Spanish tinto or blanco. If cocktails appeal, classics such as caipirinha, cosmo & mojito cost £6.50 a pop. A lunch & evening menu punts lamb & barley stew, pasta dishes, chicken Kiev, curried mussels & a trio of puds – all at sub-pub prices.
