With its storybook gabled roofs, manicured gardens and neighbouring 12th-century church, Dorney Court stands among the UK’s most enchanting country house wedding venues. Steeped in over a thousand years of history - even earning a mention in the Domesday Book - this magnificent Tudor manor has retained its original character for more than five centuries, offering a truly timeless and romantic setting for your wedding day.
Your entire wedding day can unfold on the estate, from the ceremony to late night partying in the perfectly renovated Coach House Barn. From March to October, drinks receptions can take place on the manicured North Lawn, where seasonal flowers bloom in the warmer months. The lawn is large enough to host a stretch marquee, should it be required, providing shade in the hotter summer months. In the winter, you can head into the Great Hall in the house, and marvel at the historic artwork and Tudor interiors, some of which you may recognise as Dorney Court is often used as a location for film and television.
There’s room for up to 120 guests in Dorney Court’s on-site church - the Church of St. James the Less. Bear in mind that to have your ceremony here, you will need to have a connection to the local parish.
The jewel in the Dorney Court crown is The Coach House Barn, a stunning red brick barn that can house up to 200 guests standing, or 120 seated, for everything from a wedding breakfast or lunch, to a ceremony or reception. Huge arched windows and double doors usher light into the space, which retains renovated original features like the exposed oak ceiling beams and brick furnace, once used in the building’s original life as a brewery.
The gardens at Dorney Court offer a charming backdrop for drinks and photographs, whether on the manicured lawns or amid colourful flowerbeds and borders. Plus, the adjoining courtyard, next to the Coach House Barn, is a sheltered suntrap with a relaxed, almost Mediterranean feel - perfect for celebrating in style.
