Nothing beats a good river view. Here’s our list of the top seven spots by the water
Capacity 170
USP Retractable frontage for all-year use
The retractable floor-to-ceiling windows along its outside wall guarantee a good view of the river no matter what the weather. It also makes the space light and airy. The British-leaning menu matches the iconic London landmarks seen from the terrace (everything from Tower Bridge to Canary Wharf).
Capacity 200
USP A huge variety of rooms
All the private rooms in The Narrow offer river views, so it only comes down to how big your party is when it comes to choosing your space. Its conservatory benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows, while the semi-private Boat House offers similar views, seating guests beneath a longboat suspended from the eaves.
Capacity 300
USP The Johnson Roof Terrace (it’s made for summer parties)
The refurbished Savoy Place offers increased capacity and cutting-edge tech. View-specific, we’d go for the Riverside Room or the Maxwell Library, and of course, the outdoor roof terrace – vistas of the South Bank will make events even more memorable.
Capacity 1,000
USP The arched glass atrium
The atrium is almost as beautiful to look at as the riverside itself, dramatically framing the Canary Wharf view. Ideal for dinner, the marble-floored space is also large enough to accommodate exhibitions, product launches and automotive showcases.
Capacity 120
USP …it’s Tower Bridge
The iconic venue offers river views directly on the river, and houses a surprising amount of event spaces. A refurb has added a glass floor to the high-level Walkways linking its towers, suspending you 42m above the water – a great spot for a private party.
Capacity 450
USP It’s a Grade I-listed tea clipper ship
It’s hard to compete with Cutty Sark for a maritime theme and it’s the only surviving model of its type. The ship has been suspended so guests can dine and be entertained beneath her copper-clad hull. The mahogany-panelled Master’s Saloon is also great for VIP dinners.
Capacity 350
USP It’s heated river terrace
The Japanese/European inspired menu is a draw at this newly-opened venue on Vauxhall’s booming riverside. The terrace can also be enjoyed all year round as the outdoor heaters keep you warm and snug. Oh, and if you’re into that kind of thing, the chandeliers make for some serious Instagram material.
