Located on the 33rd floor of The Shard, Hutong is a Chinese restaurant set against the backdrop of London’s skyline. Offering a menu of refined Chinese-style cooking and stunning views from wherever you’re sitting, a meal at this truly special restaurant will stay with you for years to come. For that reason, it’s the perfect location to host a private dining experience if you’re looking to make a lasting impression on guests, whether professional or personal.
There are two private dining rooms available for exclusive hire, both offering floor to ceiling windows, hand carved wooden doors and red lanterns to transport guests while they dine. The Shanghai private dining room can seat up to 18 guests over two separate tables, while the Beijing private dining room is a little larger with a capacity of up to 26 guests, seated (again, over two tables). If you’re looking to host a private event that doesn’t feature a sit-down dinner, then you have more wriggle room with numbers for a standing event. The Shanghai room will host up to 40 guests, and the Beijing room up to 50. Do note that Hutong can also be hired exclusively for up to 100 seated and 340 standing.
While the views are a huge selling point of this spectacular restaurant, it’s also a major destination for its top-quality food and drink. There are multiple menus to choose from, but examples of dishes might include Sichuan-style deep fried lobster, aromatic beef rib in lotus leaf and mapo tofu with chilli sauce. The a la carte menu is extensive and covers a wide variety of starters, dim sum platters, meat, fish, seafood, rice, noodles and desserts. The cocktail list features over 10 signature creations, with classic options as well, and the wine menu is generous in both the quantity and quality of options.
