It may be out in the backwaters of NW6, but this Brazilian burger joint is a bright spark in a pretty dour neighbourhood. The ‘x’ in the name is short for ‘xis’ (the Portuguese for ‘cheese’), &
all the burgers feature this primary ingredient as their signature garnish. In addition, X’s gargantuan, seven-inch whoppers are piled high with everything from Brazilian sausage, peas &
sweetcorn to fried egg & chicken hearts – although diehard Brits might prefer the red onion & pickle version or the Stilton X. The menu also touts gigantic hot dogs & sides of
deep-fried yams, polenta chips & the like. It’s a busy, buzzy place done out with clean-lined, modern wood furniture & an open kitchen, & the Brazilian owners (one ex-Hawksmoor) have
cranked up the carnival spirit with a sexy native soundtrack & plenty of caipirinhas – as well as sweet guaranas for those needing an energy shot.
