Pub and Grill is the hotel restaurant for the Portsmouth branch of Village Hotels. Known for blending value and luxury, the Portsmouth location is just off the M27, near Lakeside North Harbour, about two miles from the city centre.
The food menu is extensive and prioritises British ingredients. Starters include chicken wings, chicken tenders, fish goujons, loaded fries and a cone of onion rings. There’s also sharings starters, such as nachos.
A nine-strong selection of burgers headline the main course options. These are divided into burger stacks and gourmet burgers. The former includes the village big stack (two beef patties topped with cheddar cheese, salad and crispy bacon) and the peri peri stack (two chicken breasts with pepper jack cheese and the eponymous sauce), while the latter features, among others, the gourmet ½ pound black and blue steak burger (8oz patty smothered in house sauce and topped with sauteed onions and Stilton).
Elsewhere, there’s a range of pub classics, such as fish and chips, chicken kiev and spicy rigatoni. A mixed grill is also on offer. This is a rump steak, a gammon steak, a lamb chop and a pork sausage served with roasted cap mushrooms, tomato and chunky chips.
A roast is served on Sundays. The meat options are beef or turkey. Any roast can be upgraded to include a hot fruit crumble for dessert for an extra cost.
