The Eating House is the restaurant at The Tunbridge Wells Hotel, and is an informal, relaxed dining space that's open throughout the week, serving light lunches, afternoon tea and delicious dinners. The chefs at The Eating House like to use the finest produce that they can source within Kent and Sussex borders, and so you'll always find something seasonal and super tasty on the menu.
To start with, order some nibbles or sharing dishes, like the mushroom arancini with garlic puree or focaccia and sourdough bread board with marinated olives. Small plates, which can be enjoyed alone, as sides or as starters, include a parma ham bruschetta with peach , walnut and sherry vinegar dressing, and a ham hock terrine on toasted sourdough with cornichons and a shallot salad.
When lunchtime calls for a tasty sandwich, try the seadog battered fish sandwich with tartar sauce and gem lettuce, or the steak sandwich with rocket, parmesan and horseradish sauce. The salads are filled to the brim with tasty, soulful ingredients, including the autumn roast pumpkin salad with radicchio, rocket, borlotti, hazelnuts and pomegranate.
Other mains include the slow roast pork belly with charred hispi cabbage, creamed mash and red wine jus, and a Tuscan sausage ragu made with rigatoni pasta, garlic crumb and parmesan. From the grill you can order a lobster and crayfish roll with parmesan, crispy onions, fries, salad and Marie Rose sauce, or the indulgent rib eye steak with garlic butter, a petit salad and fries.
If you happen to stop by for breakfast, enjoy a selection of pastries, a filled croissant with honey roasted ham and gruyere cheese, and dishes of bacon sandwiches, buttermilk pancakes and of course, a full English.
