Call The Old Dairy Café at Vauxhall City Farm to make a booking on:
This café is a relatively new addition to the rus in urbe gem that is Vauxhall’s dinky petting farm (the farm itself has been delighting London folk for the past forty years) and strikes a smart, sleek pose alongside the sprawling, homespun charm of the hay-strewn animal enclosures. A charitable initiative that supports disadvantaged young people, this café does a solid line in decidedly child-friendly daily soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and simple pasta dishes, plus weekend brunches that include great-value fry-ups, savoury toasted croissants, and chocolate-topped porridge - with half portions available for little ones. The long, light-filled dining area is stylishly minimalist, with communal tables and plenty of space for kids to roam (this being a farm, staff are, thankfully, used to dealing with noise and mess), but the piece de resistance is the decked suntrap terrace - tables out here are understandably scarce on sunny days.
