The Mill House is a contemporary pub with a local feel in Birtley, Tyne and Wear. The décor mixes current trends with a rustic feel, such as exposed brick walls, fairy light-covered beams and brass pendant lamps.
The décor matches that of many pub-come-restaurants of the moment, straddling a rustic yet industrial aesthetic with brass pendant lamps, ceiling beams and exposed brick walls.
The outdoor area is expansive with open air and marquee-covered bench seating as well as decorative swinging seats painted pastel green and perfect for photo opportunities.
The Mill House’s menu offers classic comfort food such as North Sea cod in beer batter served up with thrice cooked chips, homemade steak, Guinness and leek pie and a trio of sausages with mash and seasonal greens. On Sundays, The Mill House puts on a Sunday Lunch menu which includes mash potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, slow roasted vegetables and a variety of meat.
To get a better idea of the food, though, check out the venue’s Instagram which is full of pictures of burgers oozing cheese and juicy-looking steaks. The desserts menu features an array of cheesecakes, including banoffee flavour, rocky road and chocolate orange with raspberry sorbet. Plus, there’s a whole section on ice cream sundaes, alongside other cakes, pies and ice creams.
The Mill House opens at 11.30am every day and closes at 11pm Sunday to Thursday, 11.30pm on a Friday and 10.30pm on Saturday.
