SquareMeal Review of The Jolly Gardeners

Silver Award

Just moments from Earlsfield Station, The Jolly Gardeners is a laid-back boozer and dining room with a fantastic garden – perfect for soaking up the summer sunshine. That said, it’s equally popular during the colder months, thanks to the comfortably stylish eating area, friendly service and buzzing atmosphere. The daily changing menu features classic gastropub fare, with the homemade burgers and baguettes going down a storm at lunchtime. Our current favourites from the carte range from pearl barley risotto with smoked balsamic onions, beetroot and Parmesan to pork belly with carrot purée and chimichurri sauce – although the fish pie is also worth noting, as are puds such as tarte Tatin with ginger and chilli ice cream. Otherwise, The Jolly Gardeners is perfect for post-work drinks and weekend sessions with friends. Don’t miss the curries, quiz nights, occasional live music and BBQ masterclasses either. In short, “good fun”!

Great Food and Lovely Decor
The food was delicious and had a great variety to it. Seasonal and interesting, The seafood platter is a must try! Highly recommended! We will definitely be going back to try other dishes!

I've lived down the road from this pub/restaurant for a year now, and last night was around the 6th time I've been. Every single time I've gone has been amazing – fabulous food, attentive and friendly service, and a good (and reasonably priced) wine list. There is a changing specials menu on top of the normal menu, which means you'll always find something new to eat, and the food is not expensive. And it's not your basic pub food. Think sea bass with chorizo rice and tiger prawns, pork belly with spiced pumpkin mash and caramalised apple, and salt and pepper squid with truffled cauliflower mash (we had them all last night and they seriously rocked). There is a small pub at the front and the restaurant is in a lovely and atmospheric conservatory at the back. In the summer there's a garden out the back lit up with fairy lights and candles where you can eat. I've eaten in a lot of similar local places since I moved here (Hannah's, the Earl Spencer) and this far exceeds them all. I'm a little reluctant to recommend it so highly in case in future I can't get a table, but this place is seriously good and deserves to be fully booked every night of the week.
