Call The Green Bar at Hotel Café Royal to make a booking on:
Jagger and Bowie, Burton and Taylor; Noel Coward, Kate Moss, The Krays: what London legend has not, at some point, rocked up at the Café Royal? These days, celebs and others often repair to the inky dark of its 1920s Brutalist-inspired streamlined Green Bar, a recent addition to proceedings. That’s ‘green’ as in 'green fairy' (aka absinthe), the Montmartre artists' lethal tipple of choice that now flows, neat, from the bar's traditional art nouveau fountains and informs pricy cocktails such as La Normandie (a Calvados concoction). For a gentler outlay, you can also get various G&Ts, Collins, cups and Tanqueray 10 Martinis fragranced with rose, orange or lavender. The Café's rations are suitably royal, and be sure to have a gawp at The Oscar Wilde Bar – a magnificent mirrored, Louis XVI rococo jewel renowned for its Champagne afternoon tea.
