The Clarendon Inn is a sports pub and kitchen in Leicester serving modern British dishes with global influences in a lively, characterful setting. Open for lunch and dinner, it’s a versatile spot suited to everything from casual meals and group dining to date nights, celebrations and watching live sport, with a relaxed, sociable atmosphere.
Located on the corner of Montague Road and West Avenue, the pub has been part of the local area for almost 90 years, retaining many of its original features while benefiting from a refurbishment in 2019. Inside, the space has an atmospheric feel, with exposed brick walls, chunky wooden tables and deep green leather booth seating. Neon signage adds a contemporary edge. Outside, a beer garden with outdoor seating provides a popular option in warmer months.
The menu brings together classic pub favourites and more globally inspired dishes. Starters and bar bites include nachos, bang bang chicken and crispy halloumi, alongside chicken wings served with a choice of sauces. Lighter options such as wraps, tacos and loaded fries are available during the day, while mains include burgers, pizzas and traditional dishes such as pie of the day, fish and chips, sausage and mash and curry of the day.
On Sundays, the menu centres around roast dinners, with options including beef, chicken, lamb and nut roast, all served with truffle cauliflower cheese, stuffing, carrots, parsnips, roast potatoes and homemade gravy. Alternative mains are also available, along with a children’s Sunday menu. Desserts include sticky toffee pudding, cheesecake of the day and vanilla ice cream.
The drinks list features beers, wines, spirits and soft drinks, alongside cocktails such as the Witching Hour and Tangerine Dream, as well as classics like Old Fashioneds and Espresso Martinis.
