About

Pyro is a Greek restaurant in Borough; centred around an open fire, Pyro embraces the unpredictable nature of blazing flames to create a spontaneous, fun environment with Michelin precision.

Chef Yiannis Mexis has held positions at The Ledbury, Petrus and most notably, as head chef at the Michelin-starred HIDE. Recently, he teamed up with Carousel to debut Pyro with a two-week residency. Growing up between Athens and Mykonos, Yiannis is embarking on his first solo venture with a cuisine that is close to the heart. Pyro takes the buzzy, laid-back nature of Greek tavernas and combines it with a bit of London edge and Mediterranean bliss. It’s warm and welcoming, with guests encouraged to bring a group to share their Greek feast menu or simply stop by for a late-night cocktail. Wines will feature independent Greek producers and the cocktail list is by the one-and-only Ana Reznik. With summer around the corner, their outdoor terrace is likely to see a lot of love.

Deriving from the Greek word for fire, Pyro’s cooking takes place on the flame. Both small and showstopper plates are scorched, charred and smoked using ingredients from British producers and Greek farmers. The menu begins with a tempting selection of potato pita and spreads, including spiced feta with marinated sweet peppers, before moving onto a range of grazing and crudo options, including Spanakopita and sea bream. Onto the main event, the “from the fire” options include asparagus with smoked eel, barbequed octopus and an almighty Dorset lamb with lamb fat flatbreads. If you don’t need to be rolled out of here, you’re probably not doing it right.
