Purchases is a bar and restaurant on North Street, in the heart of Chichester, West Sussex, combining fine dining with a cocktail bar.
The kitchen serves modern British food, with a set menu available to pre-theatre diners, an à la carte selection, a lighter menu of salads and open sandwiches, and a separate Sunday menu that changes weekly. Dishes draw on classic techniques and thoughtful presentation, spanning fish, meat and vegetarian options, alongside a dedicated dessert list and a selection of English and French cheeses.
The bar has its own signature cocktail list, created in-house and featuring homemade infusions and liqueurs, alongside a range of classic cocktails and mocktails. The drinks list extends to an extensive selection of wines by the glass and bottle, English sparkling wines and champagne, and a substantial range of whiskies, gins, rums and other spirits.
A standout feature is the restaurant's "secret garden", a hidden outdoor space tucked away in the centre of Chichester. It offers al fresco dining and drinking with a heated and covered garden area as well as a terrace room, giving guests the comforts of an indoors setting while dining outside. The garden is popular for pre- and post-dinner drinks as well as full meals, and is dressed with flowers, cosy rugs and its own bar.
