The Town House brings contemporary fine dining to the heart of historic Arundel. Run by husband-and-wife team Matthew and Jennifer Price, The Town House combines Matthew’s award-winning, ingredient-led cooking with Jennifer’s carefully curated wines. Set within an elegant Georgian townhouse, it offers a suitably distinctive setting for date nights, milestone celebrations and special occasions.
Dinner menus at The Town House take the form of either a seven- or ten-course tasting menu, with dedicated vegetarian and pescatarian menus also available. The experience unfolds gradually across the evening, with dishes evolving according to the seasons and arriving with precise, elegant presentation. A meal might begin with plates such as salt cod or shiitake parfait before moving through combinations including autumn squash with quince and preserved blackberry. More substantial offerings may include barbecued native lobster paired with tamarind and sand carrot or the day’s prime catch with fermented corn. Desserts are equally considered, with creations such as Kir Royale with blackcurrant leaf curd, lemon sherbet, and Champagne mousse, followed by petit fours.
Four- and six-glass wine flights can accompany the tasting menus, while the wider drinks selection spans red, white, rose, sparkling, dessert and fortified wines by the glass and bottle. Cocktails include Negronis, Old Fashioneds and Aperol Spritzes, alongside alcohol-free mocktails, beer, cider and soft drinks.
The Town House dining room provides a glamorous backdrop. Its extraordinary 600-year-old Florentine ceiling creates an ornate gold focal point, complemented by forest-green velvet seating, dark wood, crisp white tablecloths, warm lighting and a central wood-panelled bar. The rich palette feels luxurious while retaining the intimacy of a small restaurant. Four individually styled en-suite bedrooms upstairs mean there’s no need to rush home afterwards, allowing guests to turn a tasting-menu dinner into an overnight stay and make the most of a special occasion in Arundel.
