One of
Edinburgh’s best-known restaurants, formerly Restaurant Mark Greenaway at No.12 Picardy Place, relaunches today in a new location in the city’s Old Town.
Following their short break from the Edinburgh dining scene, chef and co-owner Mark Greenaway (pictured) and his fiancée, front-of-house manager Nicola Jack, have taken over the Georgian building
on North Castle Street that housed Italian veteran Librizzi until it closed in late 2012.
The new restaurant, called Restaurant Mark Greenaway, comprises a ground-floor dining room with a
specially designed basement wine vault; plans for a private dining room are also in the pipeline for spring. The new restaurant seats double the number of diners as the dining room at No.12 Picardy
Place.
Greenaway, who made his name with finely crafted dishes founded on seasonal Scottish ingredients, and who has appeared on programmes such as the BBC’s Great British Menu, says little will
change at the new location. ‘I am very fortunate to have retained my staff and suppliers, and I'll continue with my modern approach to classic dishes, so my menus and cooking style will remain the
same,’ he said.
No.12 Picardy Place opened in February 2011 and closed in November 2012; the chef had originally planned to launch Restaurant Mark Greenaway at its new site in December but experienced a slight
delay.
