With an enviable location on Charlotte Street in Fitzrovia, MI6 Restaurant & Bar has bagged itself a spot on one of the foodiest streets in central, although its unique offering certainly gives it reason to standout amongst the crowd. Somewhere between a British restaurant and an art gallery, MI6 Restaurant & Bar turns out a selection of quintessentially British plates to hungry diners, while also playing host to a fine art and antique collection in its dining room and bar. And before you ask, yes, they are for sale. This quirky restaurant is here to prove that food and art are perfect partners.
Indeed, eccentric interiors are all part of the immersive fun, with gold-framed portraits on the walls, gold studded chairs, white tablecloths, old-fashioned mahogany furniture and a suit of armour lurking in the corner feeling like a hodge podge of purchases from an antique market.
The menu, meanwhile, follows a similarly British theme and offers a selection of traditional favourites. Starters include devilled kidneys on toast, smoked salmon with creamed horseradish and jumbo shrimp cocktail with mary rose sauce. The main course list is very meat heavy, from traditional roast beef with all the trimmings to T-Bone steak, lamb chops and bangers and mash with gravy, bread and butter. Diners can even opt for a royal British breakfast (with a glass of Champagne) if they like! On the puddings front, look out for things like jam roly poly, Eton mess, apple and fruits of the forest crumble, or a classic British cheese board.
Cocktails and an extensive wine list comprise the majority of the drinks list, while cigars and shisha are offered in the outdoor area at the front of the restaurant, where diners can look out onto the buzzy comings and goings of Charlotte Street.
