Jumak39 is a Korean and Japanese restaurant in central London, incorporating a ground floor casual restaurant as well as a basement 'pocha' (a Korean pub). You'll find the restaurant on Panton Street, close to Leicester Square and Piccadilly Circus stations.
Jumak39's lofty ceilings and large window opening onto the street help the space to feel bright and spacious, and there's plenty of room inside. The restaurant's awning allows for a few al fresco tables on the street also, and the restaurant sometimes puts up a little marquee outside as well. Head down the stairs into the basement and you'll find Jumak39's 'pocha' or Korean pub, which is more of a drinking den that serves bar snacks and street food. This area is moodier and a little more industrial, with gentle multicoloured lighting and neon signs on the walls.
The menu is packed full of classic Korean and Japanese dishes, from kimchi pancakes, dumplings and tempura to nasu dengaku (miso aubergine) and a range of yakitori skewers. There are a huge range of sashimi and sushi sets as well as special nigiri, temaki and maki rolls to order, and that's before you get into the array of soups, noodle soups, rice dishes, hotpots, stir fries and Korean barbecue options. If that all sounds overwhelming don't worry, Jumak39 has lots of set menus to make the process easier, so you can just order and not worry about having to choose.
The drinks menu is equally extensive, with lots of soju and Korean drinks to choose from alongside Japanese sake, wines, beers and soft drinks.
