Flat Iron Square brings together food, drink, sport and entertainment beneath the railway arches of Southwark. The open-air destination is divided into three distinct areas: the Garden, an all-weather outdoor space with covered seating and views towards The Shard; the Taproom, which forms the central hub around the main bar and on-site brewery; and the Arch, a covered space connecting the two. The mix of indoor and outdoor seating, communal tables and industrial surroundings gives it an informal, lively feel.
Food comes from a rotating line-up of street-food vendors, meaning the selection can change as different traders take up residence. The current offer spans several cuisines and formats, with dishes including Neapolitan pizza, Korean fried chicken and Greek souvlaki, alongside sharing dishes designed for the table. Rather than operating as a conventional restaurant with one fixed menu, Flat Iron Square gives diners the freedom to choose from different kitchens and settle in with food and drinks in the wider space.
Drinks are centred around the Taproom, where the on-site brewery produces beers alongside a broader selection of craft beers, cocktails and wine. The Garden has its own bar, making it possible to order drinks without leaving the outdoor area, while the venue’s open layout means customers can move between the different spaces during a visit. The food and drink offer is designed to work equally well for a quick meal, after-work drinks or a longer social occasion.
Sport is a major part of the current identity, with screens throughout the venue showing major fixtures and the space taking on a particularly animated atmosphere on match days. Regular entertainment also includes DJs, quizzes and live events. With its combination of changing food traders, permanent bars, brewery, outdoor space and communal atmosphere, Flat Iron Square feels more like a social food-and-drink destination than a traditional restaurant.
