I always get excited coming here as the food is excellent. The menu is interesting, varied and decent in size (without being overwhelming) and focuses mainly on Thai, Malaysian and Cantonese style food. The food is tasty and genuine and the staff are always friendly

This is a real hidden gem of a restuarant, tucked away in the arcade behind Liverpool Street I think it can be overlooked by some. The Nasi Goreng and Char Kway Teow here are fab and the atmosphere is laid back and easy going. A popular lunch and after work spot for myself and colleagues as the food is served quickly but with care – definitely one for those in the know!

Great for quick service
I've read a couple of bad reviews on here but think the reviewers have missed the point of this place. It is ideal if you don't have much time and want to grab some hot food before going elsewhere for drinks. The service is really quick but also polite. I have only had noodles here which have always been very good. Usually a main meal and a drink comes to around £12, which in the City I think is pretty good value. I wouldn't take someone to this restaurant to impress them but if all you want is somewhere quick with reasonably priced tasty food then it is perfect!

Decided to go to Ekachai for quick meal after drinks at City Babble. Unfortunately the food arrived faster than I had expected (normally take this to mean the food has been reheated rather than freshly cooked).
We ordered a chicken green curry (normally a safe bet) and chicken cashew nut curry. Both dishes were awful, tasting foul and were obviously reheated from a batch made earlier rather than freshly made. I would have been fine with the food not being freshly made, but this was really bad food. We did not bother complaining to staff as they did not seem to be interested in anything. We left the meals almost untouched and the staff did not enquire why. Shows they must be used to it.
We were very disappointed as had been to Ekachi many years ago and found it to be good each time I went. Now the place is a shadow of its former self and standards are pretty poor. Will definitely never go again.

Busy and bustling canteen-style restaurant in the Metropolitan Railway Arcade close to Liverpool Street station. The staff are, if anything, over-attentive in their relentless quest to get you fed, watered and out as soon as possible, but once you become accustomed to waving them away, you can take as long as you like – and it's never a problem getting their attention when you need a top-up! Seating is communal and no place for a quiet tete-a-tete – you might end up banging elbows with some rather loud FOREX types from the surrounding banks, but at least they can be entertaining to listen to!
