SquareMeal Review of Caravan Bankside

The whizz-kids behind Caravan Coffee Roasters have come a long way since opening their first gaff on Exmouth Market. Now spread across the capital, each site follows the formula with urban-industrial interiors and a seasonally changing all-day menu bristling with ideas from around the world – including the jamon and smoked san simon croquettes with saffron mayonnaise. A sure-fire winner with vegetarians (try the green quinoa grain bowl with burnt grelots, grilled broccoli, miso verde, sprouts and cashews), this mini-chain also offers delicious pizzas at its larger sites, alongside the small-batch coffees that helped to kick-start London’s latest love affair with caffeine. Caravan set the bar high with its trendy brunch options too (we like the paprika and spring onion waffle with thick cut bacon and maple-date butter). A packed, convivial dining room is pretty much guaranteed, ably buoyed by reasonable prices and inexpensive Old World wines.

fantastic food and great service
Had such a great meal here. Lovely venue and great atmosphere from the minute we walked in. Lovely vibe to the place and staff really friendly and helpful but not too in your face. Talked us through some of the dishes and had clearly tried them and knew what they were talking about. Food was superb and I couldn't fault any of it. Loads of vegetable dishes which had great spicing and range of different flavours that just made me happy!!. Desserts were also really good and cocktails were a shot. All in all a really special night out, great food and great service. worth a visit. Have the cauliflower dish and the lamb meatballs...........

A great addition to otherwise run-of-the-mill part of Bankside
Pretty serious Antepodean fusion menu, lots of Asia, lots of the Med and Middle East. All comes together very nicely and does the job - looking forward to exploring the brunch menu over the weekend next time, and as long as it's a match for Caravan King's Cross - Bankside just got another serious contender for bringing the "foodie" tag out of the constraints of Borough Market and further along the river. Well done!

Wonderful food
Wonderful restaurant, great food, attentive service. We enjoyed our meal. Child-friendly restaurant. We had our two year old boy with us. He managed to break one of our glasses. Staff was great, cleaned up fast and replaced the drink.
