About

An American-inspired diner arrives in Shoreditch, serving up comfort food and slushies for hungry east Londoners. The latest venture from Robert Newmark (of Beach Blanket Babylon in Shoreditch and Notting Hill, and West Thirty Six) is housed in an old petrol station on the high street, behind a big black door with a brass porthole. Inside, the interior decoration evokes Route 66 road trips and there’s a US-style menu to match. Dude food is the order of the day: get down and dirty with buttermilk fried chicken (free-range and ‘high-welfare’, if you’re asking), smoked ribs, tater tots (hash browns) and, of course, burgers. Choose from bone marrow burgers, boneless burgers (veggie) and everything in-between, with hefty sides of crinkle-cut fries, crispy onion rings and chilli con carne crisps. When you’ve filled up (see what we did there?), head outside to a covered timber yard to sip on an Aperol Spritz or a vodka slushie, among cacti and other exotic foliage
