A laid-back Glasgow favourite, Shucks is from the same fantastic team behind Michelin starred Cail Bruich and Brett. A seafood paradise located in the heart of Hyndland in Glasgow's West End, Shucks serves the freshest seafood you can hope for – caught on Scottish waters, and paired with a casual neighbourhood bar atmosphere.
Snacks start off with oysters – natural, mignonette, or seasonal with hot sauce. There are also some more unique dishes, including Korean fried cod with sesame, daikon and gochujang, and prawn tacos with sweetcorn, lango mayo and pickles. A take on a British classic, the fish and chips tater tots are topped with vinegar powder, crispy capers and taramasalata. The starters, meanwhile, kick off with BBQ octopus with tomato, chickpea, chorizo and ramiro pepper, and include handmade gnocchi with ricotta, courgette and pumpkin seed pesto, and a crab crumpet with tandoori butter, granny smith apple, coriander, mint and creme fraiche.
All meat and fish is locally sourced, and grill options are cooked over charcoal, served with your choice of green peppercorn sauce or chimichurri. Choose from beef fillet, lamb Barnsley chop, line-caught tuna steak or Scottish lobster. If the grill dishes are not for you, mains include olive oil poached cod with piperade, saffron smoked mussels sole meuniere with brown butter, and wild halibut with girolles, shallot and chicken butter sauce. The restaurant's veggie main option is an aubergine schnitzel with chimichurri, a tomato salad and cumin yoghurt.
The best dishes deserve great accompaniments. With that in mind, Shucks offers Koffman fries and fat chips, BBQ hispi cabbage, peas a la Francaise with gem lettuce and smoked bacon, and crispy potatoes with nduja and Arbroath smokie cream. For dessert, there's an olive oil sponge with strawberry, dulce chocolate and macadamia, along with creme brulee topped with apricot and served with an Abernethy biscuit.
