Bar Etna is an East Coast–inspired pizza bar in Newington Green from Four Legs founder Ed McIlroy and Pizzeria Beddia founder Joe Beddia. Bringing together two influential voices in contemporary casual dining, the collaboration blends the spirit of New York and Philadelphia pizza culture with the relaxed, neighbourhood feel of an Italian bar.
The Italian-American menu revolves around four traditional 14-inch thin-crust pizzas, made with toppings sourced from trusted UK producers. Classic combinations sit alongside more playful interpretations, all grounded in quality ingredients and a pared-back approach. Alongside full pies, pizza is also available by the slice at selected times, lending the space a more informal, drop-in appeal.
Supplementing the pizzas is a concise line-up of small plates designed for sharing, including tomato pie - a Philadelphia staple - alongside judion beans, anchovies and a selection of cured meats. For dessert, Bar Etna keeps things simple with house soft serve, rotating through understated flavours such as sweet cream and espresso.
Drinks are designed to mirror the easygoing nature of the food. A short list of house spritzes leads the way, joined by Negroni and vermouth on tap, house-made soft drinks and a concise wine list that focuses on Italian producers. Beer is similarly streamlined, combining a single bottled option with a small draught selection from UK breweries.
Set across a split-level space, the interiors take cues from mid-century Milan, with stainless steel, terrazzo and mirrored surfaces creating a lively ground-floor bar reserved for walk-ins. Upstairs, a more intimate dining room features darker tones and timber panelling, while an open kitchen allows diners to watch pizzas being shaped and baked in real time.
