I wanted somewhere nice to take my mother for a pre christmas meal and as she lives just up the road thought the Marriot would be a good choice. I booked a table and was surprised to find that when we arrived at 7pm the place was nearly empty. Managed to find someone to show us to our seats, which they did then wandered off. After sitting there for 20mins ( I know I was patient but my mum was there) I went off to interrupt the three waiters that were chatting in a corner. I ordered a bottle of white wine for the ladies. waited another 10 mins and went to find a waitress. Its coming sir she said " no problem"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I said yes problem BIG BIG MASSIVE PROBLEM This was basically the theme for the whole evening. When at the end i asked for the bill and told the manager I was not paying service charge he looked totally shocked. I pointed out the empty restaurant and the amount of waiting staff which equated to nearly one each and said it had taken them nearly 3 hours to serve a two course meal. He seemed to think that was about right. I am sorry but i am used to London restaurants where service counts. If it was not for the fact my mother was there I would have been a lot more vocal. do not, under any circumstances feel the urge to try this restaurant. Find a local mcdonald's
