The Connaught Bar at the Connaught
Sipping drinks in the world-beating Connaught Bar signals that you are bang on the smart money. Designed on a 1920s Anglo-Irish Cubist theme, this glamorous cappuccino-toned suite from the late great David Collins is a shimmering vision in silver, platinum, pistachio, lilac, soft pink and mock croc. Its Martini trolley is the stuff of London legend and head barman Agostino Perrone inevitably comes up trumps with his seasonal selection. Recent crushes include summer's Scented Cup (Plymouth gin, Lillet Blanc, saffron, dry sherry, absinthe and orange zest) and the startling Dandelion Coffee, which adds Martell Cordon Bleu Cognac, salted date syrup, cashew milk, Oloroso sherry and tonka beans to the caffeine fix. Nibbles of croque madame with quail’s egg and truffle, salmon tartare with royal caviar, Ibérico ham and rabbit roulade or Rhug Estate beef sliders add to the sex appeal of the sans pareil Connaught.
