SquareMeal Review of
The Boot Inn
Lucy Crabb has worked with Franco Taruschio at the Walnut Tree, was Sir Terence Conran’s head chef at The Blueprint Cafe, & helped Delia Smith revamp the catering at Norwich City FC. Now,
having joined forces with her brother Harry, she’s her own boss – the chef-patron of a smashing village pub. The Boot ticked all the right boxes – freehold, nice location, room to expand, great
produce on the doorstep – & by offering a mix of affordable good food, a short, global wine list that struggles to get above £20, & laid-back atmosphere, the Crabbs are building a steady
local following. Pop in for a pint & a plate of homemade country pork pate with onion marmalade, or home-cured salt duck with sour cherry dressing, or dress up for a smart dinner built around
mains of brill, roasted squash, rosemary & anchovy butter, or west country free-range chicken breast with boudin noir, crispy bacon & creamy mash. Make sure you save room for hot stem
ginger pudding with ginger wine sauce.
