The buzz around this small Japanese sushi joint continues to build, with fans proclaiming that it's the best you'll find in West London – or even further afield. First impressions aren't great: you
need to peer through frosted glass to see whether the sign reads ‘OPEN’, but once inside you'll find an oasis of calm. Mackerel, scallops & smoked eel are the specialities, but if you don't
fancy taking a chance on individual items, go for the chirashi – the pick of the fresh fish, shellfish & roe heaped onto rice & adorned with shreds of seaweed & shiso leaves. Bowls of
miso (complete with submerged clams), plus green tea & beer could round off a simple yet memorable meal. Note that opening hours are restricted, booking is strongly recommended, & the till
is cash-only. Sushi-Hiro is well worth the extra effort, though.
