SquareMeal Review of
Just a short drive south of Padstow town in the pretty village of St Merryn, Rafferty's café and wine bar opened at the end of 2012. Owner Ed Rafferty used to work for Rick Stein at the Seafood Restaurant and his family have close links to the county’s farmers, which goes some way in explaining why local produce is at the
forefront of the appealing menus at this relaxed eatery. The repertoire changes all the time depending on what has arrived in the kitchen, but typical choices might include a steaming bowl of
Porthilly mussels with garlic, chilli and coconut milk or an open steak sandwich washed down with Cornish cider or one of the carefully sourced wines. Bare floorboards, painted chairs, wooden
tables and wine racks create just the right mood for socialising or a bite to eat.
