Squaremeal Review of Pizza Union Spitalfields ?

Offering super-quick pizzas at prices lower than most City side dishes, this casual and lively canteen-style diner is consistently busy, despite its backstreet location. The open-plan, high-ceiling space takes a no-frills, stripped-back approach to decor, with long wooden communal benches throughout. The draw here is simplicity and great taste: order and pay at the counter, collect a buzzer and sip a beer while you wait. Roman-style, thin and crispy 12 inch pizzas start at £3.95 for a margherita, with the most expensive a mere £6.50. Our Calabria had creamy mozzarella and mascarpone paired with peppy n’duja sausage, the pizza striking a good balance between crisp and gooey. Gluten-free dough is offered for an extra £1, while desserts include dough rings stuffed with Nutella. Frequented by young professionals and students, this has become a local favourite for a fun post-work fill-up.

Best pizzas outside of Italy!

Editor's pick We went to Pizza Union, a fun and funky joint near Liverpool Street. As the name would suggest they specialise in pizza and the giant wood fired oven dominating the open plan kitchen indicates that they take their work seriously. The pizzas cook in minutes and their light crispy blistered crusts are maybe the best we’ve had outside Italy. It’s a super speedy operation, you place your order at the counter, they give you a buzzer that vibrates when you need to pick up your pizza. Job done. We started...

Not Quite Enough :: Pizza Union, Spitafields

I love it when you reach that stage living somewhere where you have reliable and local go-to restaurants for every cuisine. We have our favourite chippy sorted, our favourite Chinese, our favourite Mexican (all coincidentally on the same street) but we’ve been missing a great pizzeria. Until recently that is when I discovered Pizza Union.

Review of Blacklock, Soho :: Pizza Union, Spitalfields

I love a good pizza, especially when it is freshly fire-oven baked to perfection. A couple of people had mentioned I should check out Pizza Union just off Spitalfields as it’s close to where I work and also super good value. Which is always handy the last week before payday… oops.

Well I am happy to report that I have found a gem of a pizza place! I really enjoyed my meal here. You walk into a large open restaurant filled with long wooden benches. The menu is hung high above the pizza ovens. Once you have made your decisions you go up to the tills and order your food and drink there. You get given a buzzer...

Pizza union was one of those chance happenings. We were out one day past dinner time and we were hun-ger-eee!
Having just popped into hummingbird bakery to pick up some cupcakes across the road, J spotted Pizza Union - A pizza restaurant that sells inexpensive pizza. Given that pizza is one of my all time favourite feasts, we agreed to go in.

Quiet eating :: Quieteating Pizza Union Spitalfields

My friends always like to make fun of me for being an old man stuck in a young boy’s body. They bemoan my fussiness. I prefer to refer to it as being discerning.

When that stereotype doesn’t fit the bill, I morph into an immature brat in an adult’s body. They complain about my adolescent sense of humour but I choose to see this as my attempt to maintain a youthful outlook on life.

When they run out of other things to say, they complain about my bad taste in jokes but I say that it’s only because you have to think a bit more deeply to see what’s funny.

Most of all, they complain that I...
