Occupying what was the Hoxton Apprentice, Monikers is a deliberately urban-rustic restaurant and bar in the contemporary mould – think artisan food with a patriotic accent, trendy beers and plenty
of socialising opportunities. Come to eat and you’ll find plates of black pudding with Scotch egg, pan-fried mackerel with pickled beetroot and red cabbage, or grilled bacon chop with braised white
cabbage, plus a roster of sprightly salads (Cornish crab with blood orange and fennel, for example). Roasts arrive with the necessary accoutrements, desserts could include carrot cake, and there
are weekend brunch deals with bloody Marys too. On the drinks front, also expect real ales from the likes of Meantime and Oakham, plus Texel’s Eyerlander (from Holland) and assorted wines by the
carafe. Upstairs is a kooky private dining room fashioned from parts of an old MCW Metrobus.
