Squaremeal Review of La Tagliata ?

The menu at this Spitalfields newcomer couldn’t be simpler, with just one main course consisting of sliced sirloin steak on a rocket and parmesan salad, served with potatoes – ie. beef tagliata. There’s also a single starter too (freshly made pasta with a choice of three sauces), while pudding gives at least some variety – take your pick from tiramisu, pannacotta or a plate of Italian cheeses. Prices weight in at £19 for a main course on its own, and the food is backed by an alI-Italian wine list offering bottles from exclusive boutique vineyards rarely seen in the UK. As for the decor, expect something resembling a villa with lots of intimate little rooms – ‘the pantry’, ‘the library’, ‘the study’ and so on. Each one can be reserved for private dining.

The restaurant is fantastic, food and service are impeccable and it has a really unique layout which makes it an ideal venue for business lunches and dinners - reasonably priced and ideally located near to Liverpool Street Station.

    Today we’re venturing into the City of London. A short walk from bustling Liverpool Street station through the throngs of City workers is La Tagliata, which opened this July. It’s all new and shiny with plush white seating along the walls and staff with welcoming smiles.

    The concept is wonderfully simple. There’s basically one starter and one main course with slight variations. To begin with the fresh tagliatelle is made daily on site.
