This subterranean mirrored lounge is the long-awaited second London opening from the French trio behind Experimental Cocktail Club in Chinatown. As before, fun lurks behind an unmarked door with a bouncer who gets to decide your fate if you haven't booked. Fittingly, for a bar named 'happy mess', the drinks are strong – our Floc Off was a triumphant Gallic mix of Calvados, sloe gin and Floc de Gascogne. There's also an impressive Champagne list, and the fact that the house fizz is Billecart-Salmon speaks volumes about the class of this establishment – whatever the shabby-chic interior suggests. Solid fuel comes from a short roster of French small plates, while DJs spin the decks for a banging soundtrack most nights.
