Harry Gordon's

SquareMeal Review of Harry Gordon's

A smart new wine and spirits shop is not the only draw downstairs at Selfridges. You can also pop in to Harry Gordon’s (named after the store’s founder) for a shot of Dutch courage before splashing out on a pair of designer heels or a sharp suit. In an agreeably modern, bistro-style setting seemingly made from pale-pine wine crates, you’ll find a well-considered range of tipples including Greek and Portuguese names among two dozen by the glass, plus Champagne and British craft beers. Meanwhile, mixologist Ryan Chetiyawardana (late of Purl and 69 Colebrooke Row) has devised a small list of refreshing cocktails ranging from Paisley pattern (a Compass Box whisky and tarragon Collins) to a blend of Sipsmith gin, peach, mint and pale ale entitled 1909 (the year Selfridges opened). Food-wise, expect soups, salads, charcuterie, sandwiches, seafood, cheeses and puds.
