SquareMeal Review of
Four To Eight
Set up by two brothers who used to run an Italian sandwich shop on the same site, Four To Eight is a classy addition to the Theatreland dining scene and its small plates menu is perfect for a pre-show pit-stop. Pale wood, reclaimed brick and industrial touches add up to a clean modern feel, while large picture windows overlook the action outside. Inside you can expect well sourced antipasti and classic regional Italian dishes, plus pasta and steaks from the Rare Breed Meat Company in Colchester; all backed by a well-chosen wine list. Stand-outs on our visit included silky venison tartare paired with earthy beetroot, shallots and bitter leaves; autumnal beef shin ragu and indulgent truffle taglioni with perfectly al dente pasta. Zesty Amalfi lemon tart ended the meal on a high note, while the early evening set menu (£18/23 for two/three courses) is a further plus.
