Situated beneath the boutique Picardy Place Hotel, Jason Wright’s latest venture sits right next door to his beefy hit Steak. This time, seafood is the theme with much of the catch sourced from local fish merchant Gary Welch and a dedication to
honest value as well as simple fresh flavours. The menu aims to please allcomers, moving from coronation shrimp salad, rollmops ‘in a tin’ and a bucket o’ fish with homemade ‘chippy sauce’ to
flashier items such as halibut Kiev with crab baked beans and potato waffles, lobster and chicken macaroni or roast sea bass with potato purée, chestnut mushrooms, seared spiced cabbage and garlic
butter. To finish go for something nostalgic such as peach Melba or rhubarb crumble. The dining room has its share of ornate Georgian trappings, while the casual Skippers Lounge is the place for
cocktails and snacks.
