Del’Aziz offers an attractive ‘one stop shop’ approach to eating, drinking, browsing and discovering the flavours of the Middle East, the Maghreb and the Mediterranean. Navigate your way around the comestibles, grab a seat at one of the heavy wooden tables and pick from a menu that spans all possibilities from breakfast to dinner. New executive chef Mahrez Loukal is an Alain Ducasse alum, which is good news for the menu at this Clapham Common spot, while manager Ginger Zerbetto comes fresh from stints at Nobu, Buddha Bar and Novikov. The deli shelves, patisserie displays, giant meringues and café interiors look attractive, but there’s almost too much going on. Service falters at busy times and it’s hard to fathom where to begin, though you can’t go wrong with eggs Benedict early doors, a deli sandwich or a selection of hot and cold mezze. To drink, order a pot of Moroccan tea or something from the global wine list. Belly dancing and shisha pipes are exotic extras.

Del'Aziz was a really nice place to eat. Wednesday offered a wonderful deal for £15 for a main meal and glass of wine which was great value. Upon arrival the restaurant wasnt overly busy and whilst the staff were very helpful and polite, there was a lack of urgency with drinks and generally a bit unaware of the people dining with my friend having to get up to ask everytime we wanted anything else. Once asked the staff did bring the order over straight away which was redeeming. The cakes looked amazing and well worth a visit. They also have a coffee loyalty card which would definately encourage me to go over for coffee and a delicious looking slice of cake!

I have been to Del'Aziz on several occasions and each time it has left me disappointed. The most recent visit was the last straw, I'm never going again. First off, my girlfriend and I arrive for lunch and even though there was plenty of room elsewhere in the premises, the waitress opts to seat us next to a table of 5 mothers and 8 screaming babies…off to a bad start. We then have to wait over 10 minutes for the waiter to notice us sitting there and staring at him before menus are brought. I order the chicken shish pitta and ask for double meat as I'm quite hungry. My partner orders a quiche with side salad from the deli. Nearly 30 minutes later our food arrives. That's 30 minutes to put a pre-cooked quiche in the microwave and on a plate, put a pre-made salad in a bowl and grill some chicken to put in a pitta. Pathetic. I could have run home and done it faster myself. Still it all looked nice…at least at a glance. Upon inspecting my chicken shish pitta I was confused to find just 3 tiny pieces of chicken, some lettuce and gherkins…that's it for £11.95! I called the waiter over and asked him if this was in fact the double meat. He just seemed confused and didn't know. I asked to speak to the manager and asked him if this was right, he said it was. He then said that double meat is a full chicken breast…further confusion. Even on a good day the three pathetic little pieces of chicken I was given could amount to no more than half of a VERY small chicken breast and this was supposed to be the double portion!!! The manager could not have been more rude and belligerent. He eventually agreed to charge me for just the single meat. WOW, how generous of him!!! Overall a truly awful,terrible experience. What's more, in the 60 minutes we were there virtually every table around us was calling over the waiter and manager to complain about their food and service. This place is an absolute joke. I wouldn't eat there again if they paid me. There are so many wonderful places to eat in Clapham, this laughable joke of an establishment isn't one of them. I would hope that they eventually go bust and a new business opens in its place. Sadly they will probably continue on fooling people into coming in with their nice decor and cakes in the window. Don't be fooled!!! This place will ruin your day!!!

I'd not been to the Del'Aziz in Clapham before, but had a good experience in one or two of the other branches and expected much of the same here and was not disappointed. It has a nice atmosphere with its cafe/restaurant cum grocery store feel, and in this particular case, cum bar which was also there. The menu had a wide range of dishes with an emphasis on Middle Eastern dishes and everything that we ordered was tasty. Friendly service.

Sadly, a very disappointing evening meal experience in one of our local estabilshments. We had frequented here on a number of occasions prior to this, mainly for brunch, and it had always been a fairly nice experience. On this occasion, I had invited a friend to dinner, and it turned out to be a disaster from start to finish. The lovely decor upon arrival set the expectations high, however the service and attitude of the staff that served us along with food quality was a complete let down. We received the wrong orders and ended up with dishes none of us chose, or desired to eat (i ended up with turkey when i was expecting lamb kebabs, in addition, the turkey was so dry it was inedible), without any apology, and no attempt to resolve the problems nor any compensation even offered by any of the staff when given the bill, we felt we had to really stand our ground with the manager to even acknowledge that we were not having a very pleasant time, who eventually offered a 10% discount off the bill. Sadly, we will not be returning, it has left a bitter taste in our mouths which is a real shame being so local.
