SquareMeal Review of
Decked out in vibrant blues, golds and earthy reds, with latticed skylights, engraved metal tabletops and Moroccan water heaters, Couscous Darna certainly looks the part. It tends to be quiet
during the day, but pulls in punters after dark, when couples and parties drop by to share traditional North African dishes such as carrot and cumin salad, savoury filled pastries and the
full gamut of tagines perked up with sticky caramelised prunes, preserved lemons, nuts, harissa and more besides. Belly dancers cavort among the tables nightly and shisha pipes are also
available for those who crave the full Marrakech trip. Couscous Darna’s wines and cocktails are a surprising asset for a predominantly dry country – ask the bartender to mix you a refreshing
watermelon or lychee martini made with fresh fruit.
