Canto Corvino

Squaremeal Review of Canto Corvino ?

A new venture from the team behind Manicomio, Canto Corvino (literally 'song of the raven') is aptly situated on a lane once known as Raven Row. Exposed brickwork and industrial lighting create a warehouse vibe that appeals to City suits as well as Shoreditch hipsters, and the all-day kitchen majors on traditional dishes where cooking methods are as important as ingredients. Antipasti might include indulgently cheesy arancini packed with chilli prawns or salty salumi with focaccia, while pumpkin cannelloni with walnuts and smoked provola is a hit-the-spot pasta riff. We also like the smoky pork T-bone cooked in the Josper oven, with burnt plums adding an astringent edge, although the jellified Negroni dessert with cucumber foam is a more acquired taste. With a well-stocked cocktail bar, weekend brunch and a feasting menu for private diners, this raven has plenty to crow about.

Dinner

Very good service, with excellent wine choice advice. The food menu is relatively short, but is high quality and authentic, with items not usually seen at the more standard Italian restaurants. Food all well cooked and presented in a pleasant setting.

Stunning Italian Brunch

by   silver reviewer (25)

Jan 2017

If good Italian food is your desire then I highly recommend paying a visit to Canto Corvino which is conveniently just a 2 minute walk from Liverpool Street Station on the outskirts of Spitalfields . To say the food was amazing is an understatement and the flavours are very different to many Italian restaurants. We had a nice warm Italian welcome and were seated in front of the open kitchen and started with cocktails which were 2 for 1 while we looked at the menu to which we chose the Beetroot Salad,...

Counting on Canto Corvina

by   bronze reviewer (8)

Dec 2016

This restaurant is a gem nestled in Spitalfields. Certainly not your average Italian restaurant. It has a thoughtful menu and an good wine list. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. A real treat. On the edge of the city it has a nice mix of clientele.

Good find

by   silver reviewer (16)

Sep 2016

We had booked for a team lunch elsewhere in the area but decided to move at the last moment. I felt this was an excellent find although the menu was limited I believe it catered to most dietary requirements. 2 of us had beef carpaccio to start, two others had the yellow tunas fin and another had the mozzarella with peaches to start followed by one flat iron chicken, 3 sea bass and one lemon sole with 3 tomato and onion salads and 2 burnt greens with chilli and garlic. All was luvverly. We had...

A wonderful find!

by   gold reviewer (41)

Editor's pick When i discover a restaurant like this, i keep everything crossed that when you return all is still the same. The restaurant itself is lovely, warm and inviting with bare brick and very tasteful bar area. The service was impeccable and the food fantasic. The wine recommendation with our steak was spot on - in fact, one of the best wines i've tasted for a while. I've been caught out before asking for recommendations on the wine, only to find out that i've spent in excess of £50...

I hadn’t seen James 2 in ages. He’d moved out last year to pursue a doomed romance, and, after a very dramatic few months, had ended up living in Hoxton. I’d last seen him at his 27th birthday party a couple of months ago, though that barely counted as I was irretrievably off my noggin by 9:30pm and had to be carried to bed in disgrace. So, a catch-up was long overdue. Given that I live opposite a prison and James 2’s new stomping ground was just around the corner from Colombia Road’s famous flower market, we decided to spend the afternoon in East London
