SquareMeal Review of Aubaine Broadgate Circle

The latest branch of this likeable chain of bistros should put a smile on City faces. With its grey, white and wood interior, it looks as though it’s the backdrop of a thousand fashionable photo shoots and its happy blend of Parisian café with Provencal-based food and a short, mostly French wine list makes it as comfortable a place to meet and eat as it is to dine solo. Choose from classic French breads and pastries as well as the likes of eggs benedict from early in the morning; by lunchtime customers are more likely to have moved on to classic salads, moules mariners or fillet steak. Given the displays of patisserie, it’ll be hard not to indulge in a dessert.

Aubaine is a great spot all times of the year to enjoy a varied and delicious menu, in hot weather it's nice to sit outside and enjoy a drink in the sunshine and soak up the city atmosphere , great interior and they know their wine too! I've booked on behalf of my bosses, have attended here for formal bookings and informal social gathers, I've had a pleasant experience each time!

Due to manic diaries, I suggested a catch up over breakfast and chose Aubaine mainly due to its proximity to Liverpool Street station. For a French restaurant, surprisingly it offers a very extensive breakfast menu and staff were more than happy to accommodate the off piste whim of my friend who is on some mad diet and only wanted a plate of bacon. My tartine d'avocat was on the whole, delicious but let down slightly by the tasteless, although properly cooked, poached eggs that accompanied it. I'm not a huge fan of Broadgate Circle of an evening, but for an early morning venue, Aubaine ticked all the boxes.

With its cream colour scheme and rustic wooden floors, the semi-private area of the Broadgate Circle branch of French brasserie restaurant Aubaine makes for a calmer setting than some of the City’s more obviously macho destinations. With space for around 20 diners seated, it’s a versatile spot for anything from weekday business breakfasts, lunches and dinners to weekend celebrations (the restaurant is open on Saturdays); stand-up drinks parties for up to 30 can also be accommodated.
