Below Bermondsey Street's much-loved Antico, this basement bar is so besotted with gin they've even designed their own Bermondsey tonic water to accompany their vast and varied collection of mother's ruin – more than 80, in fact. The gin flights are good fun; £16 got us three samples of high-street brands with a sealed envelope revealing which was which, while other collections were themed on London and Spain. If it's a good old G&T you're after, they've got that covered too – we particularly enjoyed the locally distilled Jensen's, with its fruity juniper notes. On Sundays, weekly changing cocktails such as Purple Gin Fizz (sloe gin, egg white, lemon and Prosecco) are only a fiver. Exposed brick and brown-leather banquettes give the place a slightly dated look (despite a recent refurb), but low lighting creates the feel of a cosy drinking den – perfect for SE1 locals who fancy whiling away a few hours.
